My Unique Acrylic Paint-based Process (see galleries Acrylic/Mixed Media Mindscapes; Macrocosms; and Microcosms)
I create each painting using acrylic paint on glass panels, mixing in found objects, gels, cling wrap, soap bubbles, water, etc. I layer, scrape, draw, spray and press the various media on the primary glass plate. I position another glass plate (or 2) above and/or underneath and create a painting on each plate to create a complementary background or foreground layer. After the layered glass panels are superimposed, I experiment with light sources (often sunlight at particular times of the day) to achieve the desired light pattens that emerge from the painted glass layers. Once all the elements are complete, I photograph the painting with a high-resolution camera. A professional high-end fine arts printer in NYC produces a pigmented ink image on Hahnemuhle etching paper and framed in Museum Float-style with hand-formed deckled edges. The image can also be presented on exhibition matte canvas in a float-style frame.
No digital image software is used to modify the painting at any point in the process.
The original painting is then scraped off the glass and destroyed and a low-resolution image is placed on my website (www.carolynmarxart.com). When a painting is sold, the image is designated as “Sold” on the website, preventing any other versions. All pieces are guaranteed as UNIQUE, one-time only, works of art.
